Gotcha Mama Episode 008 – You are capable of more than you think with Megan Dejarnett

If you are like me and you’ve ever let your circumstances determine what you think you are capable of doing, you HAVE to listen to this episode!

Your perspective on your own limitations as a mom is guaranteed to change after hearing my guest’s story.

My guest on this episode is Megan Dejarnett. Megan is a wife, mom to two sweet boys. She is also a writer and speaker. She’s passionate about motivating people to approach life with an “I can do this attitude”. All impressive things on their own.

But what you need to know is that she was diagnosed with a genetic neuromuscular disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy when she was two years old. Doctors told her that her life expectancy would be around 15 years!

She recently celebrated her 30th birthday as a healthy mom of two biological children!!

We talk about

  • Her story of pregnancy with Spinal Muscular Atrophy
  • Being a mom with special needs to two young boys, one who has special needs himself
  • Removing labels others try to put on us as well as the ones we give ourselves
  • How we’re all trying to figure out motherhood, no matter what “kind of mom” you are

She sums up her journey of motherhood, and her life, in her beautiful quote, “You are capable of more than you think”.

More about the guest

Megan recently founded an organization called No Such Thing. Its mission is to “help others redefine purpose by removing defining labels”.

More about the Gotcha Mama Podcast:

The Gotcha Mama Podcast is where we share honest stories of the joys and struggles of mom-life with young kids.

Each week host Amanda Bennett interviews a mom about topics ranging from awkwardly making mom friends, to chasing BIG dreams and finding purpose, to managing crippling anxiety and depression. You’ll hear stories from moms like you with the purpose to inspire, encourage, and entertain you.

We understand that motherhood can be lonely and make you doubt yourself. The Gotcha Mama Podcast exists to let you know that you are not alone as a busy mom of young kiddos, no matter what you’re dealing with.

The show is all about tearing down our insecurities as moms by honestly sharing our stories and a little of what we’ve learned along the way.

We believe it’s a whole lot better riding the rollercoaster of motherhood together!
