Hello and welcome to the Gotcha Mama Podcast. Episode #1!
I’m Amanda Bennett, the host of the Gotcha Mama Podcast. I’m so excited you’re here!
Before I get into what the Gotcha Mama Podcast is all about, I want to tell you a bit about me since we’ll be spending some time together. I know we’re going to be great friends.
About your host
I currently live outside of Nashville, TN with my supportive husband of 12 years and my 3-year-old daughter.
I’ll go ahead and answer the questions I know you are wondering – no, I don’t listen to country music. And no, I am not a singer/songwriter. But you can’t go 20 feet at the grocery store here without bumping into someone who is!
I am an introvert who loves people and loves Jesus. If you’re into personality tests, I’m a 9 on the enneagram, an INFJ on Myers Briggs, and a solid S on DiSC.
Here is a bit more of my story…
Four years ago my life changed forever. My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our sweet daughter Claire.
Ever Since I can remember, I knew I wanted to have children. My husband and I tried for almost a year to get pregnant after a miscarriage at eight weeks. My hope in having a biological child was rattled, but my faith wasn’t lost.
When I finally saw the two blue lines on the pregnancy test, I was SO excited. To be able to finally hold my daughter in my arms and rock her to sleep as she nuzzled her tiny fuzzy head on my chest. To see her laugh and watch her learn new things.
I had expectations of what it was going to be like to be the mom of a sweet baby girl. I read all the baby books and printed all the checklists to prepare to be the best mom I could be.
The reality of bringing home a new tiny human was much more complicated and overwhelming than any book or video can adequately prepare you for.
Being a mom can be frustrating, and exhausting and lonely but it can also be wonderful and fulfilling and more joyful than you ever dreamed it could be.
Hearing my child say “I love you, mama.” Getting big hugs and sleepy snuggles fill every crevasse of my heart. It’s the best job I could ever ask for. And most days, I feel completely unqualified for it.
What is the Gotcha Mama Podcast about?
The Gotcha Mama Podcast (and all the resources you’ll find here at Gotcha Mama) exists, to encourage you in your journey as a mom to . . .
Inspire you by hearing stories of moms who have overcome obstacles.
Entertain you because sometimes you just need to laugh.
Lift you up and let you know that you’re not alone in this journey of motherhood.
Each week on the show, you’ll hear stories from moms like you. I talk with them about the joys and the struggles of motherhood. They’ll share their honest and vulnerable experiences.
The name Gotcha Mama came from the really awesome way that moms can have each other’s backs.
Like when a mom says “hey, you’re home with a sick baby and you really need milk and coffee from the grocery store. I can get that for you.
Or you’re in a bind and you need someone to watch your kids while you go to a meeting? And a mom says, “don’t worry, I’ll be there in 5 minutes, sister.”
It’s letting another mom know hey, I see ya. I love ya. You’re not alone, I Gotcha, Mama.
I want to hear from YOU!
My hope is that the stories and the amazing mamas you hear on the show will inspire you. Maybe spark something inside you to create the life you desire as a mom.
You don’t have to fit anyone else’s mold. And you shouldn’t!!
You are uniquely and intentionally made to be the mom you are for your children and the people who you love in your life. It’s your superpower. Embrace it.
Tell me about yourself. What do you like? What frustrates you? What’s your biggest challenge as a mom? What dream do you want to pursue? What’s holding you back from being the mom you want to be?
Reach out and connect via the contact page, or message me on Facebook or Instagram. My ears and my heart are open for you, friend. I see ya. I love ya. And I Gotcha, Mama!
