Gotcha Mama podcast episode 44 – My Infertility Journey with Kristin Dillensnyder

Mother’s Day and the month of May can be a difficult time for some women. Silently grieving, struggling, healing, hoping, and praying for a child that’s not in their arms. Not every woman’s path to motherhood is easy or simple.

According to a past National Survey by the CDC, 1 in 8 couples (or 12% of married women) have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. That statistic proves just how common an issue that infertility is. But infertility has a strange way of making a woman feel isolated and alone in her situation. Creating shame, fear, and anxiety around her own body.

If that is you now or has been you, I want to acknowledge your journey. You need to know that you are absolutely not alone. Your journey is no less worthy of support than a mom who has become a mother through any other path.

So on this episode of the Gotcha Mama podcast, I talk with Kristin Dillensnyder, also known as Kiki. She is a big sister, a wife, a mom, a bonus mom, and an infertility coach.

Kiki and her husband knew they had infertility challenges to overcome and they struggled to conceive. They went through three rounds of IVF and experienced all the outcomes: 1 that didn’t work, 1 that worked and 1 that ended in miscarriage.

Through her own journey with infertility, she has learned many valuable lessons. Now on the other side of her journey, she loves to share her wisdom and genuine support with other women going through the same thing she went through.

She helps women take back control, prepare for the bumps ahead and get emotionally supported by someone who gets it. Her goal is for women to feel like their big sister is there holding their hand, no matter what the outcome is during their fertility journey.

More about the guest

Kiki is from Connecticut but now calls South Carolina home.

In addition to supporting women going through infertility, she loves blowing bubbles with her daughter, listening to music, T-Rex jokes, anything with a pineapple on it, snail mail, waterproof mascara and talking with friends.

We talk about

  • Her journey with infertility and all the physical and emotional processes that she and her husband went through to get her daughter
  • All the insight into technical infertility terms and the procedures
  • How she knew it was time to stop treatments
  • How best to approach baby showers and pregnancy announcements for friends who are going through infertility
  • Her super valuable advice for someone going through infertility right now
  • And if you’re not going through infertility, how you can be the best friend to someone going through it
