When you think about how you learned to view nutrition and exercise, who do you think of?
For me, I would have to say my parents.
Well, my parents and Denise Austin. If you don’t know Denise from her leotard-clad workouts on Getting Fit with Denise Austin, give her a Google. The lady is doing something right!
My mom was a nurse when I was growing up and we never had the awesome “sugar cereals” in the house like Fruit Loops or Frosted Flakes and rarely had soft drinks. Don’t think I didn’t get my sugar fix when I went to the after school daycare though.
Whether we realize it or not, a lot of the beliefs we have about food, exercise, and our bodies come from who we looked up to growing up.
Sometimes that’s a great thing that sets us up for creating healthy habits.
And sometimes our role models are not so great at helping us create healthy habits for ourselves as adults.
I’m super excited to share with you the guests (yes plural!) in this episode!
Kim Sorey and Kalee Dillard are a mother and daughter fitness and nutrition duo who help women transform their lives through healthy habits, personal development, and coaching.
This is the first time I’ve had two guests and it was so fun to get two perspectives (one from the mom and another from her daughter) on how to raise kids with healthy habits and healthy views of food and exercise.
It was also really great to hear how we as moms can take care of ourselves by giving ourselves a little grace and balance instead of an ‘all or nothing’ approach to being healthy.
This was a fun episode full of great parenting AND wellness wisdom!!
