Gotcha Mama podcast episode 64 – You’re a Better Leader Than You Think with Carmen Westbrook

If you’ve ever doubted that you’re a leader as a mom, you need to listen to this episode!

If you’ve ever been told by a potential employer or organization you wanted to volunteer with that you don’t have any applicable skills because you’re a stay at home mom, you NEED to listen to this episode!

And if you believe that mothers are incredible leaders (which I think we are!) then this conversation with Carmen Westbrook will get you super motivated.

As a military spouse, Carmen’s darkest moments came when her husband was deployed for a year when their daughter was 10 days old. They had just moved to Hawaii.

Carmen only knew one person and she became Carmen’s unexpected lifeline after she lost their third child.

They ended up having the most amazing and supportive group of friends. Inspired by this experience, she decided to start Aina Giving.

Aina Giving is a unique leadership community, built on the principles of servant leadership, empowerment, and equality.

Carmen’s latest program, the Becoming Superwoman Club helps women understand and appreciate their contributions to their family and community.

More About the Guest

Carmen is a Nebraska native currently living at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy with her husband of 20 years and their three children.

She and her husband met at the age of 19. In her 17 years as a military spouse, she’s moved around eight times, all over the world.

We talk about

  • All the specific ways you ARE a leader as a mom and the VERY applicable skills you already have to be a great leader
  • Her very personal story of how Aina Giving came to be
  • The philosophy of conscious leadership, system leadership, and servant leadership as it applies to motherhood.
  • The Becoming Superwoman Club, its community purpose, and its benefits to moms

More about the Gotcha Mama Podcast:

The Gotcha Mama Podcast is where we share honest stories of the joys and struggles of mom-life with young kids.

Each week host Amanda Bennett interviews a mom about topics ranging from awkwardly making mom friends, to chasing BIG dreams and finding purpose, to managing crippling anxiety and depression. You’ll hear stories from moms like you with the purpose to inspire, encourage, and entertain you.

We understand that motherhood can be lonely and make you doubt yourself. The Gotcha Mama Podcast exists to let you know that you are not alone as a busy mom of young kiddos, no matter what you’re dealing with.

The show is all about tearing down our insecurities as moms by honestly sharing our stories and a little of what we’ve learned along the way.
